Chief Mechanical Engineer

upto £100,000 per annum

Want to define basic mechanical design processes and support the development of the first industrial demonstrator within the sustainable energy space? And have Turbomachinery design and analysis experience?

If you’re a Technical Leader who can really drive strategy and support the development, at the same time helping to define processes and systems, then you might be very comfortable here with your experience. You'll be able to define release processes and provide guidance and support on high temp alloys and other relevant material properties, gas-turbine manufacturing, assembly, and inspection techniques.

You’ll already have the Commercial awareness for when talking to customers and suppliers However, with start ups comes a lot of challenges, are you ready to make that move?

The challenges?

  • Setting up its design process within a team of people who have come from various backgrounds - being able to support the growth of the company in this engineering function is key.

  • Design processes are yet to be written - so you’ll be able to really put your own stamp on things. You’ll know what good looks like already.

  • Working with a geopolitically scattered team - being able to bring everyone together who understands the bigger picture is important.

This is for you, if you’ve already done all you can where you are and now you want to make a real difference to the world we live in. But also to drive your career forward, at a much faster speed than you would if you were sat where you currently are. You’ll already have the Commercial awareness for when talking to customers and suppliers

A typical week looks like:

  • Continuously reviewing, steering and approving all mechanical design and integrity.

  • Supporting the growth of the team, advising and mentoring members and promoting new design procedures.

  • Attending supplier side meetings - where you will audit work performed outside the company.

  • Creation and checking of engineering calcs.

The important bits for you

  • Flexible hours - if you have kids to drop off to school, pickup, or have personal circumstances where you need to start a little later, this is possible. And you can work from home 2/3 days a week.

  • You'll be expected to travel to the Headquarters in Finland for Management meetings - once or twice a month.

If you think you can work in a position where you can start to put processes in place to support the journey, can deal with large amounts of uncertainty and ambiguity, but also implement processes and policies to reduce that uncertainty and ambiguity we'd love to talk to you.
